    Hi there,

    If you create a new account or change your account’s username to something that’s not your real name, you’ll effectively be anonymous, yes. We only require a username and email address for someone to create a WordPress.com account and site, so not even we know your real name unless you voluntarily add that info to your profile, or unless you buy an upgrade.

    Just keep in mind that when you comment on other people’s sites they can also see your email address and IP address, in addition to your username, so to have a truly anonymous account you might want to consider registering a new, anonymous email address as well, and always use a VPN when using WordPress.com, both writing on your own site and when commenting on other people’s sites.
