Anonymous Comments noworking properly
-
I cannot seem to get anoynmous comments allowed on my site. I have the following options checked in my ‘discussion’ page:
1 Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article
2 Allow link notifications from other Weblogs
3 Allow people to post comments on the articleE-mail me whenever:
4 Anyone posts a comment
5 A comment is held for moderationBefore a comment appears:
6 An administrator must always approve the comment
7 Comment author must fill out name and e-mail“Comment author must have a previously approved comment” is unchecked.
Should this not allow users to add comments to my blog without having to login or register?

Yes, it certainly should. Have you tried it yourself when you’re logged out? Try that and report back; it could well be that someone is confusing leaving an email with registering for WordPress. Stranger things have happened.
Nope, just tested it. It insists I register.
Check the discussion options on the Edit page, on the right-hand side. They might be set differently for some reason.

Thanks for checking for me.
I checked the Discussion options on the Edit page of a post and they are set to Allow comments and ping backs.
Anyone any other ideas?

# An administrator must always approve the comment
# Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
I see those both checked at the blog linked from your name. -
Not sure if I’m on the right track, but I want users to be able to leave comments without having to log in (they have to leave name and email) and I want to approve them first. At present it appears a visitor has to register and be logged in to leave a comment.

I think the phrase I’m looking for is “Couldn’t see the wood for the trees”. Thanks for the correct answer to my problem timethief.
