Another disappearing images situation

In both Safari and Firefox, my photos appear in my blog at first, and then they disappear as the page loads, showing only the blue question mark and/or the name of the photo. All of the photos are still in the media library, they’re all small – 1,440 x 960 pixels – and if I click on the missing photo, it does open in a separate page (I use “target=_blank”). What is happening? Is it a problem with wordpress.com or with my browser? Thanks!

I reinstalled the new OS and – so far – the problem appears to have been resolved. Thanks for answering my post, though. If it goes wrong again, I’ll post the screen shot to my blog. (Funny that I can’t directly append it here.)
