Another Jetpack query
-
OK, I sent you an email about a Jetpack-related problem earlier today, but this is separate.
I went to the Jetpack dashboard in our blog, and accidentally clicked ‘disconnect from Jetpack’.
Now all my stats have disappeared. Help! It’s not a total disaster as we have Google Analytics, but its a shame to lose everything!

Did you try re-connecting Jetpack and the stats are working but the historical stats information is gone?
You should still be able to access your stats by logging in to http://wordpress.com/ with the WordPress.com username and password you used to connect to Jetpack and the historical stats should still be there. You should be able to find them under Dashboard → Site Stats → select your site from the dropdown menu at the top right of that page. Can you find the stats there?

Yes.
> Can you find the stats there?
Hmm, confusing. Until Sept, we ran our blog from a .com WP account, registered in my name, at cancerresearchuk.wordpress.com. This blog is still there, but hidden.
In September we set up a hosted version of WP, which is now at http://scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/ . We installed Jetpack, and I connected this to WP.com using the same wordpress a/c I’d used to manage the .com blog.
When I log into wordpress.com, several blogs I’ve set up appear under the Dashboard tab, but not the new hosted blog.
Am I doing it wrong?

It sounds like the stats got split for some reason. I’m not sure how that happened.
So, to re-cap, the stats for http://scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/ are missing from here from some point in September to 2011-10-31?
https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats&blog=28977464If you look through the other sites in the drop down menu, can you find those stats filed under a different name? Is there any other staging server name you used in the past to work on scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org ?

Thanks for replying. Yes, you’re correct, the stats are missing from (I’ve now checked the date) 1st September 2011 until today, when I inadvertantly logged in and out from Jetpack.
I’ve gone through those dropdown lists and there is only one site that might be a problem – dev.scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org – which is the development environment for scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org. However, to my knowledge, we haven’t activated Jetpack on this – I’ll confirm tomorrow when I’m back in the office (its IP-restricted).
There’s one other avenue to explore, if you could. I logged earlier today a problem with our wp.me shortlinks – the shortlinks were redirecting to a typo-containing version of our URL. Here’s what I logged:
[WordPress.com Support] Jetpack shortlinks not working properly
Hi, I posted about this on the .org support forums and was told to ask you guys. Here’s my post:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/jetpack-shortlings-not-working?replies=1
Looks like a typo in the URL?? Any way I (or you?) can fix this?
I’m now wondering whether I inadvertantly registered Jetpack with a dodgy URL (http://scieneceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/), and the effects of this are only now becoming apparent.
Thanks so much for your patience and help on this.

yep, that’s sorted the shortlink problem. thanks!
however, the stats are still missing. any clues?

Yes. Stats from 1st Sept 2011* til today were there until I accidentally ‘disconnected’ this afternoon.
The blog has been happily collecting stats since I reconnected (there have been 255 views since then).

We initially and briefly installed WP Stats, but never activated it, and instead – on finding out about Jetpack soon afterwards – uninstalled WP Stats and installed (and activated) Jetpack instead.

Just trying to put all the clues in a row, do you remember when you installed WordPress.com Stats?
