Another lightbox-type question

  Hello,

  I need lightbox functionality of something similar in my blog. I’ve seen the recommendations for Thickbox and I’ve also seen the problems people have described with Thickbox. I would swear that a few months ago I saw a solution that just opened the larger image in a separate web page. Not too elegant but maybe less problem prone. Anyone, I’ve been searching for information on how to do that and I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone help?

  Maybe I should have been a little more specific. I would like to display a smaller image in a blog post and then when the user clicks on the smaller image have the larger image open in a new window.

  You could upload 2 copies of the image: one thumbnail, and the other full sized.
  Note : copy the link url of the larger image either by finding it in the insert image box, or in the media library.
  Insert the thumbnail into your post, then where it says “Link Url” insert the link to the larger image.
  insert into post
  If you want it to open in a new page, then go to Advanced Settings and click the box to make it do so.

  Was this the thread you were remembering? I think I referred someone to it not too long ago. If devblog couldn’t make it work, I don’t think it can be done with the present platform here!

  No – that’s not the one but good info nonetheless. I’m thinking that opening the image in a new window might be more stable but not as cool. Guess you can’t have everything…
