Another problem with Avid – this time, it's the custom colors

I have changed the colors of my blog (with the Avid premium theme) using the Customise function – but I cannot change the link colours in the blog text with these new colours. Right now, all text including links are white – the links are not highlighted in any way. No matter what colour I choose for ‘header and links’, the links stay plain.
I have paid (a while ago whilst using a different them) for the CSS upgrade, but with Avid all I’ve been able to do is make all links on the page underlined using text-decoration code – which looks terrible. I want to be able to change the link colour. But no basic color code seems to work?
