Another silly posts on ads
-
I was looking at the TOS today and I noticed that I couldn’t find the blurb about ads/affiliate links anymore?
It used to be nicely highlighted under and older CSS style, but now I can’t find it at all.
-
That was only ever in the FAQ.
And the styling changed with the theme. It wasn’t hiding anything, it just changed. -
@engtech
I believe this related information below may be of help and I trust if it isn’t exactly what you are looking for you will just nod and smile. :)
The advertising restriction and the only future exception (paid upgrade) can also be found by reading Matt’s announcement this thread in the official wordpress.com blog and the FAQs blog search box response in context with the TOS and the VIP hosting plan. There is an exception if you qualify and pay for a VIP blog along with other very notable bloggers like Robert Scoble, etc. -
All the ToS has ever said about ads is that a) they can change the policy at any time and b) they don’t have to inform us or consult with us in any way prior to such changes. This is standard stuff. I don’t think anyone was ever naive enough to promise us that wordpress.com would be ad-free forever.

@Mark
I’m looking for a rock to crawl under, yet again *sigh* :( …
Sometimes I can be so stupid that it’s painful. I posted the link but I forgot what the contents were. Meanwhile here I have been looking for forum search box threads and looking in my notes, squinting and using a magnifying glass while my head aches.
It’s a stab in the dark but hopefully when I get my new glasses I will become smarter … *praying*

@tt-
my wife swears i become deaf and lose 25 IQ points when i don’t have glasses/contacts. :Dthe contents of the FAQ certainly aren’t static either. i’m not entirely sure i understand the content of that post, either.

@engtech, no it was there, you weren’t imagining it. they removed it when they redesigned. along with the link to the picture of their favorite barbecue restaurant in SF. (which implied that reading the TOS was some sort of chore).
personally, although the BBH is nice, i much preferred the formatting and layout of the previous TOS. it was probably the easiest to read and scan i’ve ever seen.
