Trying to import my Tumblr. More than 24 hours, so I’m checking in. I know you guys are super busy, so thank you for your patience!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi spadeartworks,

I’ve double checked to confirm your import is indeed still queued. It didn’t cancel. But please do reconnect to your Tumblr account if you’ve disconnected it.

We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s just in line for processing, and luckily it’s still in the queue. Please allow this to run for the next 24 hours, and if it hasn’t completed by then, update us here.

Hello, checking in again. It’s still saying “in progress” with nothing imported.

I never disconnected from Tumblr. Would it help, or make it worse, if I disconnect, wait a few minutes, and reconnect?

    thanks!
    J.S.

  • Hi there,

It appears that the import for your site is currently running, so it will hopefully complete soon.

I may have screwed something up and would like suggestions for how to move forward.

I received the email saying I’d reached the 3gb limit. From previous threads, I thought that meant posts would continue to import, just without the pics and gifs, etc. Since the importer still showed ‘in progress’ with not quite half my posts imported, and was still counting, I thought I’d try and make space by deleting media/posts from the wordpress pages that had finished importing. The post count kept going and it looked like new images were coming in, so I thought it was okay, but now I’m wondering if I interrupted the import, even though I thought I was only dealing with ‘complete’ posts. I’m finding a lots of images that have downloaded but don’t have the corresponding posts, and a lot of posts with no images. And the count has now stalled at 3268 imported.

Is it actually stalled? And can it be un-stalled right where it left off, or will it redo the things I’d deleted? Did I interrupt the import by editing finished posts?

  • @spadeartwork I’ve cleared the current import.

Just noting, when you delete images, they will not work in the posts. You’ll get posts with broken image links. I recommend against deleting images to make room for more.

Also, while a re-import can catch missed posts, it won’t fix the images that were imported then deleted.

If you want the images, I’d suggest upgrading first, then having staff clear the site so you can start fresh and get the posts with images in place.

Let us know what you’d like to do.

I’m only deleting images if I’m also deleting he post, so I’m not concerned about broken links on that front. My concern was mostly for the images that had imported without their matching posts. I figured it just hadn’t finished yet, but then it stalled.

Thanks for your patience with all the extra work thrown your way this week!
