The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Several themes have a special header tab, usually “Home”, occasionally “Homepage” [*] or “Front Page” [**] or “Blog” [***] or an image [****]: that’s not a page such as those you create but a link back to the blog front (the main blog URL, which can be your latest posts or a static page. That tab is hard-coded into the theme: you cannot edit or remove it (except in Bueno, Motion, and Titan). [http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/homefrontblog-tab/] <.blockquote>

May I please ask you to clarify what you mean by “front page”? In a conventional post based blog the front page is where Posts are displayed. Did you change your front page to a static page here? > Settings > Reading
-
yep
the “residential specialists” page is supposed to be the home page- and it is a static page, not posting any new stuff on it…
-
This is the home page of your blog. http://kingswindowcleaning.com/ Note there is no ‘www” in any wordpress.com URL. Note that if you click “home” that’s where you will arrive. That’s not a page as such. It’s just a tab. You cannot add anything to it as it’s just a tab.

so is it possible to make my res specialists tab go away then?
i cant make the home tab a parent…
-
There are two ways to make it go away:
(1) go away forever – delete it
(2) hide from view – we are back to creating another static page and hiding it by making it a child of the new static page.Suggestion: Choose another them that doesn’t have this “home” tab coded into it. Possibilities here in column 2 With header tabs but no built-in Home tab and column 3 With no header tabs

so if i make it a child of a new static page- wont the new static page be the one that is doubled up as the home page?
desired end result: One home page tab with “res page” info as the first page you see.
*is this possible with my current theme?
-
Yes it’s possible. It’s what you have right now.
I’m using a Firefox 3.6.4 browser and the appearance concerns me. The blog title on that theme overflows into two lines and the tagline is below the allotted header space a. It’s partially appearing in the horizontal navigation bar for Pages. It obscures the text on the Page tabs for “Home” and for “You Residential Specialists”. Does the appearance concern you too?
-
yep im currently making a custom header…
i currently do have that yes…but i do not want both tabs there…
home stays no matter what you said so the only other choice is the res specialists tab…but from what im gathering- if i want that page to be the home page i need to deal with it or get a new theme…
Correct? :)
-
Getting a new theme that doesn’t have a “Home” tab is what I would do and that’s why I posted the link to the possible choices above. Why struggle to use a theme with the width of a grocery list when the blog title and tagline and the “your residential specialist” page tab will not fit?
-
@kingswindowcleaning: Just delete the page title and add it at the beginning of the content. That will only leave a small blank tab, invisible unless you hover over it. If you need help styling the artificial title, let me know.
