Another user is slandering my name

  Hello,
  I just Googled myself because I am launching my own freelance career this week. I found this on the search, on the first page of the search.

  I can’t have this slander on Google if potential clients are going to be searching for me, considering me for business. I need to know how to get this removed. I asked the author to remove it but I’m afraid my request will not be seen until it is too late. Please advise me. I contacted ehow and will contact Google to get it removed.

  Sadly by posting the link you are driving traffic to that site. The party simply removed it and provided a link to Google’s cache which is usually cleared every 3 – 6 months. Note that all issues with search engines are between the blogger and the search engine. Please see these entries:

  Thank you for the response and links. When you say “The party simply removed it” do you mean that my name has been removed? Because, I’m sorry, but I am beginning to agree with this person – I stood by Demand for eight months and they repaid me by ousting me from every specialty program, thus firing me – but that’s got nothing to do with this. I just want to know if my name has been removed as a tag on their post. Thank you for taking the time out for me – I don’t normally freak out this bad but this is a special occasion.

  I looked again and the Tag (ie. your name) has not been removed. Please note that this is a public forum and every thread here is indexed by Google.

  Normally I wouldn’t care but I’m trying to start my own business and the last thing I want is for a potential client to google my name and see that come up because it does look like I put a giant penis on my ehow page, when it never really happened. I just hope the site moderator has a heart…..

  Google crawls and indexes this forum real fast – only takes a few minutes from post to famous on Google here.

  I have flagged this thread for our Moderator’s attention and queried whether or not removing the link ought to be done. My thinking is that driving traffic to that site is not what you want to achieve.

  No it’s not that was my mistake. Another mistake I made was trying to deal with this in the middle of the night. I should just go to bed and deal with it in the morning.

  Thank you for all your help though there really are more people that want to help than there are people who want to hurt out there.
