Any idea why I keep getting the ‘you are not allowed to edit this post’ message?
-
I’ve got a blog — have had it for a few years now — and lately when I try to edit a draft and save the changes, I get a red message saying I’m not allowed to edit this post. Posts also don’t publish on the first try, and they only publish if I do them without categories or tags and only add those later. Also, I’m getting messages that I’m not allowed to add images to posts. I’m not sure whether it’s in the sense of my not being the site admin — if something happened and my account’s not recognized, which would be weird — and it thinks I haven’t the authourity to make those changes; or if it’s something to do with the new WordPress editor, or what. I’d appreciate help, as I do want to make proper posts with pictures and tags and things again. WordPress has been very easy to use in the past, and this hangup is new.

Can you try logging out and back in again? That frequently fixes the issue you are seeing.

The equivalent of “have you tried turning it off and turning it on again?” I suppose! Thanks.

It tends to be an issue when login cookies somehow get messed up and the system gets confused about who you are. Logging out and back in again resets the login cookies and typically solves the problem.
