Any ideas on how to gain more visibility legitimately?

Hi there :)
I am a relative newbie here. I am trying to find a few reliable ways to gain more visibility or interaction on my blog.
I have noticed that some bloggers spam the comment feeds or use other means of gaining traffic. But that really just seems rude so I don’t want to do that.
I would also like to engage more with my fellow bloggers and perhaps guest blog but this seems like I’m limited to viewing a small network for some reason?
Any ideas would be awesome and much appreciated!

How can I get more traffic to my blog?
Here are some tips.
If you want to increase traffic then don’t listen to anyone who professes there are passive ways of doing that. Increasing traffic to a blog is hard work. If you want your blog to rank well in search engine results and secure a traffic flow from the SERPs (search engine page results) then that begins with creating and publishing original content posts (not pages) ie. unique content that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet.
