Any ideas on how to improve my blog?
-
I’m very new to blogging. I’m also not that computer literate. However, after what seems like an age to set up my blog and get it underway, i now feel comfortable with blog controls, edit features, posting topics/pages etc..
I wonder if a maestro would mind having a look at my blog and see if they can see anything to add to it or something which makes it get more views etc..
Here’s the url: http://hamspirit.wordpress.com/
Thanks a lot..

this “maestro” =P suggests that you limit the number of pages you have in your blog at the moment. i tried looking for an about page to know what’s your blog about and i just couldn’t looking at the number of pages there! you should restrict your pages to about (about the blog & the blogger) and a few important pieces that you don’t want to be stuck in the normal posts chronological order.
also, comment in other people’s blog. find blogs with similar interest and comment there. you’ll eventually get these bloggers to return the favour and maybe you two have mutual interests enough to exchange blog links even!
categorise your posts. currently you only have the uncategorised category, it will make searching for a specific topic difficult.

Thanks for the constructive reply. I’ll go back to the blog and rearrange things about a bit.
Thanks again.. -
The more specific you are with your questions, the more we can help. There are five or six major threads on blog promotion alone in the forum; a quick search on “promotion” or “hits” will probably find you some useful info.
Do you want design criticism, content evaluation, or what, and what’s the goal? Hits? Clarity? Self-expression?
I mean, some things will make a blog more appealing to specialists but less to others. Who is your audience? Do you want EVERYONE, or just a certain type, like book bloggers? And are you willing to tailor content and design to your ends?

The blog is aimed at radio amateur operators, specifically interested in contacting distant countries around the globe.
I think the goal is for the blog to eventually become well known whereby radio hams pass on the link to each other thus increasing my hits, which inturn would show the blog is doing well.I’ll look around the forum and get some ideas.
Thanks again

Hamspirit, I understand the impulse to set up a lot of static pages to make the site more like a webpage with a blog attached. I set up a book-blog recently that used pages exclusively for the main content. But one big drawback of that approach is you can’t use categories/tags for static pages the way you can for chronological posts, and for that and I guess other reasons, they don’t draw anywhere near as much traffic from search engines. And for an informative site like yours I imagine you’d want that traffic.
Remember, you can have sidebar links to posts as well – just use a text widget.

Willplay about with settings/features..Thanks again all..

Also, static pages do not count on your stats AT ALL. If most of your blog is static pages, you’ll never see most of your hits.
