Any limitations on upload themes feature
-
Hi-
I’m trying to understand the capability and limitations of the upload themes feature in the Business Plan. I’m evaluating themes on themeforest. Should I expect custom themes and their required plugins to work on wordpress.com (generally speaking)?
I realize wordpress.org may be best if I’m considering this, however, I’d prefer not to have to worry about infrastructure.
Thanks!

Hi there,
Sure thing! Business plan allows you to install third-party themes and plugins. So you can expect a required plugin for a theme to work in WordPress.com using the business plan. Here is what I got from the support document for business plan:
anyone who wants to upload custom themes or plugins will also find themselves at home.
More information is available here:https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/
Let me know if this helps.

Hi there! To confirm what moodyblerd said, almost all themes and plugins should work with the Business plan. There are a very small number of plugins that aren’t allowed, because they conflict with back-end features already active on Business plan sites — such as some caching and code minification plugins — but I don’t foresee any plugins that would come bundled with a theme being an issue.
When choosing a third-party theme, one key thing to look for is the quality of support you will get from the developer. How speedy and effective is their assistance for issues like bugs? Do they offer customization support, if that’s something you’ll need? Also, what is the setup complexity of the theme, and is it a good match for your experience and skill level? Just a few of the things to consider.
Let us know if you have any other questions!
