any way to add other widgets
-
Hi,
i’m wondering if there is a way to add widgets to my blog other than the ones that automatically show up as options to add. For example, can i add a moon phase widget created by someone outside wordpress, and if so how do i do it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, I don’t think we download other widgets that can be uploaded to our wordpress.com blog, normally widgets like that are for self hosted wordpress.org blogs. You can however add a text widget in Appearance on your dash board. An example is add a live traffic widget for Feedjit which can be found here http://feedjit.com/joinimg/
You simply copy the code they provide, then go to your dashboard, and under Appearance drag it to the widget area on the right side on your dashboard, paste the code and save. Update and theres your new widget. There are a number of widegts that can be added with this method. Just do a Google search for what you have in mind.
Hope this helps!

I meant drag a new text widget to the right side of your dashboard in the widget area, click on the text widget and a drop down box will open where you can paste the code and give the new widget a title.

The site http://twincowfaeries.wordpress.com/ seems to have been deleted. Please post a link to the blog you are asking about so we can be sure you are in the right place. In the meantime, joer223’s answer is somewhat inaccurate. The code wp.com users can put into a text widget is limited. If you attempt to use a forbidden code, it will be stripped and will be non-functional.
Here is so information about code we can and cannot use: -

Sorry for the inaccuracy 1tess, I should have been more specific in mentioning forbidden code for java, flash and the like!

Thanks for the link. Sorry the news was not happier.@joer223
You should know that it is important to ask for a link: volunteers have been known to spend lots of time helping someone only to find out either:
a,) poster does not have a wp.COM blog
or
b.) poster was asking about a different blog than you assumed
