Any way to auto delete comments with Russian characters?

I’ve been seeing a big uptick in spam comments over the past few months which are just blocks of Russian text, and was wondering if there was any way to simply auto-delete all comments containing Russian characters. I have googles captcha enabled and up to date, but it doesn’t seem to help. IP blocks won’t work either, the comments are from all over the world.
I don’t even really get the point of spam like this, there’s not even links to redirect people. When I run the comments thru Google translate it’s just gibberish…

What’s the URL of the site you’re working on? The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites.
If you’re using the open source version of WordPress at another host, then I’m guessing you don’t have a anti-spam plugin installed. That’s really the best option to stop a spam attack like this.
We recommend the Akismet plugin – the Akismet filters are designed to learn, so each comment you mark as spam makes it better able to detect similar future spam comments. Akismet has been around for years, and has filtered millions of comments across the web, so it knows how to block a lot of spam.
You could probably also try adding all the letters of the Russian alphabet to the comments blacklist in Discussion Settings in the dashboard, but I’m not even sure if that would work. A good spam filter really is your best bet.
