Any way to change 'Link to' display setting for all images on site in bulk to Attachment P
-
Wondering if WordPress.com staff can assist me on this issue. I would like to change ‘Link to’ display settings for all embedded, gallery, and slide show images on my site in bulk to ‘Attachment Page’ At least 95% of the time this is the setting I’d prefer, and in the early years of the site as I recall all of the images were linked to attachment pages by default. At some point in time, with one of the WP updates I presume, the default ‘link to’ setting changed to ‘Media File.’ Part of the problem is that I did not recognize or address the issue for quite a while after it became requisite to choose the link settings. However, an equally significant problem is that at some point thousands of images previously linked to attachment pages became attached to media files. I’ve got at least 8,000 images attached to pages and posts displayed on the site. The number is much higher if I include gallery images which are not attached to the gallery page.
The task of going through some 8,000 images, plus dozens of galleries to check the ‘Link to’ settings and modify them if necessary will be an enormously tedious and time-consuming task if I have to do it one by one.
One special aspect of the issue to consider is that for some embedded images, for reasons I don’t understand, there is no option to link to an attachment page. In such cases the options are limited to ‘Image URL,’ ‘Custom URL,’ or ‘None.’
