Any way to close all the comments?

Hi guys,
these are two somewhat related questions:
1. I have several hundred posts and would like to close comments on all of them. Is there some universal way to do that or do I really have to go into it manually for each one? I know how to do it for future posts, but that doesn’t close the ones for posts already made, does it?
If this is not possible on my end, is there a chance to do that in the backend by staff?
2. I would like to leave the same comment on everyone of my posts [explaining the reasons for closing the comments], is there an easy way to do this or does this also involve leaving every comment manually?

1) Settings->Discussion
Note that many people, but by no means most, report that this deletes all existing comments.
2) If you close the comments on your entire blog, even you cannot leave a comment. You could copy/paste into the bottom of each post, but that’s a PIA.

I assume you mean this: Automatically close comments on articles older than [ ] days
I might have to contact support if it does indeed delete comments as that’s not what I want!

No, I mean disable all comments. It closes them on past posts as well. There are only certain themes it deletes comments on, but I can’t remember what they are or find them. Dr Mike might remember.

Oh right, so they’re only deleted visually, not actually deleted deleted.
My theme [the amazing Dark Lake theme by Devblog!] displays comments for posts that are closed for further comments.

Contact staff anyway; those are two different things. It might just wipe your whole comments file clean.
