Any way to delete a blog that was never used ?
-
So I’d like to create another blog but the matter is that, it already exists with the domain I wanted. However, the blog was never ever used since November 2005, when the individual made it. I’m wondering if you guys can delete the blog so I can use the domain.

Only the blog owner can delete a blog or the staff can suspend a blog for violation of the Terms of Service – no other reason.
Once a blog is deleted that name / URL is gone forever even from the original blog owner – so deleting the blog would not do you any good anyway. Some blogs that look inactive are really there because someone needed an API number to run the Spam program Akismet on a .ORG site or the Stats Package.
If you really want to use that name your only chance is to leave a comment on the site asking the original owner if they would consider transferring it to you. Your best bet is to choose a new name that is on character different or added.
The no reuse rule is because say you had a church based blog – gave it up and it was recycled into a Porn site and your friends continued to go to the site expecting to see the church stuff – they then might not think real well of you thinking that you had turned to Porn – or if you had originally had a site for small kids.

Thanks. Fine but I would guess the person created the blog and then never came back to it again. So it’s no use to make a comment there, plus the blog is 5 years old. Makes no sense why the folks at wordpress can’t delete these inactive blogs when nobody is using them, there’s people that want to use the domain and can’t, like myself.

What are you talking about?

WordPress.com has a page on why the no reuse rule and what they want to do is make sure that someone is not embarrassed by what might be put on a site by a new owner – as I noted – say you had a very family orientated site and gave up the name, then I came along and got use of your old name and turned the blog into say a Porn star site and your friends and family and others in your community continued to visit the site that you no longer had and found content that they now consider not appropriate or offensive – they might then think you had went off the deep end or something and you would then be in trouble with your friends – it is a way of protecting you from something that others would do to your old web URL.
I personally think that WordPress.com is missing a minor money making chance by not having a moderated (and charged for) message sent to the old email of record for an inactive blog asking if the original owner would like to transfer it to another person – but that would be a bit of a hassle for the Staff to keep track of –
Good luck if you find a variation of the name you wanted.

Thanks for the help, I figured I will use another domain. They should just have a system of deleting the blogs after being a certain amount of time inactive.

@causadascoisas if your blog is hosted on WordPress.com, which we can’t know until you share the URL with us, you might want to get familiar with the wonderful Support docs we have available to us. You can find just about everything but the kitchen sink there by using the search box at the top. http://en.support.wordpress.com/
Another fabulous resource is http://learn.wordpress.com/

@justjennifer
I believe this may be the “private” blog in question http://causadascoisas.wordpress.com but unless or until causadascoisas confirms that we will never know. -
Yes that’s the blog, but I made a new one through this account and I wanted to take a domain that was being used by someone that never used his/her blog. But anyway, the problem is solved.
