Any ways to hide one post and reduce content shown on main page?

1. I would like to know it there’s any way to hide one post from the main page
so that people would only see it when they click a link from another post?2. If there’s a way to say, show 5 lines of a post on the main page?
The main page become really long when i have a post with many pictures shown.Thank you!

1. There really isn’t anyway to do this unless you would back-date the post so it would not appear on the front page of the blog. It would still be on older pages, but not on the front page.
2. Use the “more” tag as explained in this support document: http://support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ . Some cautions about using the more tag: Do not put it within a paragraph, blockquote, ordered or unordered list, or within text formatting tags like bold or italic, etc. Make the more tag like it is its own paragraph. If you do not do this, it can actually end up messing up your blog layout.
