anyone else having html issues?
-
Hi there,
Been trying to embed a video for the last hour, html code disappears every time I save the page. I remember this happening a while ago and all the html stuff was messed up for a while (for everyone). Anybody experiencing this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We need a link to the blog please.
What type of video (youtube, etc.) and what process are you using to try and embed it?

I’m not sure why people always ask for the blog with questions like this, but here it goes…the blog is lolcatslol.com …I’ve just ben added as a contributor. I’m trying to embed a video from break.com, which has an embed code, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve used YouTube embed codes and swapped them out. As you can see many other videos have been embedded…but the html disappears when I try to add it.

oh, and by the way, i don’t have/can’t see those 4 media icons either. i’m not sure how much control i have over turning VTE off, etc since i’m not the admin, just a contributor

We ask to make sure you are in the correct forum. There are key differences between blog hosted here at the wordpress.COM free hosting service and self-hosted blogs using the software downloaded from wordpress.ORG and installed on third-party hosting services. In this particular case, the answers here regarding video embeds would be completely wrong for a self-hosted blog.
AND that is the case with your problem since the blog you referenced is self-hosted and our video answers here won’t work for you.
The forum for self-hosted blogs is http://wordpress.ORG/support/ . You need to inquire over there and if you are not familiar with the differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org blogs, which apparently you are not, then you need to read this sticky thread from the top of the which explains the differences: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1 .

We ask because many of the people seeking help here have self-hosted blogs (“powered by wordpress”) — as you do — and need to get help at wordpress.org.
This forum is for blogs hosted by wordpress.com.

First we need a link to the blog, and we also need to know what HTML you are trying to put on the blog.

oops! my blog is thegardeningsnail.wordpress.com
once upon a time I could at least switch from visual and html and see the code. I want to increase the font size of my posts.
I used to be able to write a post in a word document in a larger font size, then just copy/paste. If there was a glitch I could then “tweak” the code a bit.
None of that is working now….

Word can get you in trouble with wordpress and has ended up breaking many blogs here so my suggestion is to not use it if and if you do, always use the “paste from Word” icon on the lower toolbar: http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/09/09/bringing-content-into-wordpress-from-microsoft-word-screencast/ . Of course that is going to strip out the word code which for the most part is NOT web compliant.
To add it manually in the HTML tab, you would add this before the text you want to change:
<span style="font-size:12pt;">And this at the end:
</span>Are you on Windows? If so, I would suggest downloading and installing the Window Live Writer blog client (free) which has all the controls of Word (within reason) including the ability to change fonts and sizes easily, and you upload your blog posts directly from WLW rather than copying and pasting.

This is all really new to me. I’ll try to download the Live Writer Blog client onto this laptop I’m working from.
Thank you for answering my question :)
