Anyone in NYC who I could pay to help me?
-
Hello, I have been trying to post photographs for about 24 hours and it is not working. I don’t think support can help me. Is there a computer person in the NYC area who is a WordPress wizard that I could pay to help me? If this is you, or someone you know, please email me at (email visible only to moderators and staff). Please tell me your availability for the next few days and your rate.
Thank you very much, I look forward to hearing from you.

I have a private blog here with tons and tons of photographs. What exactly are you trying to do which isn’t working?

Hello, thank you so much for responding. It seems to be a mystery. As tests, I have been uploading photographs, some work, some don’t. Some show up for a while, and then disappear. They upload, get crunched, but are blocked somehow. Right after they get crunched, when there should be a thumbnail next to the file info, it is just white, with file info to the right.
This morning, I looked on my blog, and all the photographs were visible! They were visible in the media gallery, but then I uploaded a photo, no image, and about half of the images on my blog became white again. It;s very strange and no one seems to know what is happening.
I don’t know if you can see it, but my blog is http://www.xenophiliac.wordpress.com.
Any and all words of wisdom would be great. If you happen to know anyone in New York who is a professional computer guy/gal, please let me know. I’m in limbo until this gets resolved.
Thank you very much, Nina

I’m not in NY and don’t know anyone. I personally don’t think it makes sense to pay anyone to blog for you.
I see that your blog is private so obviously we cannot see.
The problem you’re describing is very common. I’m sure wordpress team knows about it as well, I have read various threads here already describing similar problems, I have myself ran into this issue many times when I upload photographs in bulk. However, the ratio of broken uploads is very low, for example, if I upload 20 pictures, then may be 1 would not show up.
I some time resolve this issue by deleting the broken picture and uploading it again. It doesn’t work all the time, so waiting a little while and redoing it again may help.
Although this issue is annoying if and when it repeats, but I have not come across anything that I have not been able to resolve by either redoing or just being patient.

Hi, thanks for your response. I am about to throw myself out the window (not really, but it feels like it) because for a day and a half I have been trying to figure this very basic thing out. I am just loading 1 image at a time.
Have you ever had the problem of uploading a photo, it crunches, the file name is there, suchandsuch.jpeg, but the thumbnail version is not to the left? It’s just white. This is the problem. And when I insert it into the blog, the correct shape is there, but the image is not. Has this ever happened to you?
I am not looking to pay someone to blog for me, just a tech person to tell me how to do this.
I would be ever so grateful if anyone had any words of wisdom. Thanks.

Yes, I have seen this problem, and it happens regardless of the number of photographs you’re uploading (correcting myself above).
I recommend you delete and upload again. If it still doesn’t work, then wait few minutes and delete and upload again. If it still doesn’t work, then drop a note to Support (Top menu – My Account – Contact Support).

Hello, where do I delete? I will try it and get back to you. You are one of the only people who have responded to me. I’m holding on for dear life here! I’m also going to try and unlock it so you can see, (it’s just a mock-up version) maybe that will help diagnose the problem.
Thanks again and I’m going to check in with you in a few.
Thanks!

Oh my goodness, now all the photos are there! This is really strange! They might possibly all disappear again if I try and upload a photo again. I’ll check it out.

You can delete the photograph from the same window which uploads it. Or you can click on ‘Add an Image’ icon in the Editor, go to Media Library, go to the photograph which isn’t showing up and click Show link. Then click on the Delete link at the bottom (which is next to the gray Insert into post box).

Now it’s working perfectly fine!!!! I’m so happy!!! Maybe having it on a private setting did strange things? It seems like once I put it on public viewing, it all works perfectly. I am going to keep my fingers and toes crossed that it keeps on working!!!!

Hmmm…no, I don’t think changing your blog from private to public would have anything to do with it (defeats the purpose). If you intend to blog in private then you should switch back. But anyway, glad it is working. The volunteers here at support forum are very helpful with all kinds of legit requests (I’m not even a regular but I casually browse).
