API Key
-
Where do I find my API key, I can’t find it.
Btw, I own a domain… In a free hosted WP blog, it’s in the profile.
-
You will find your API key by going to http://dashboard.wordpress.com and then going to your “Profile”. It should have also been in the welcome email when you registered at wordpress.com

In my previous blog which was hosted by WP, it’s there. What about having your own domain powered by WP? Where do I find it?
-
API keys can be used off wordpress.com for other hosted blogs. Use the same API key for that blog.

My Blog don’t want to accept my API key… :( It says “Please check the configuration!” Where can I solve the problem in the config?

Copied from elsewhere in the forum search box – and also mainly in the Akismet faq:
Your key will be correct.
The error message is because Akismet cannot access the Akismet server. The problem is one of these things:
– either Akismet is being denied access to the internet if you are hosted locally behind a firewall (Ensure that your host can make outgoing HTTP requests to akismet.com. (Many hosts block or firewall outgoing connections.) or
– the server you are on lacks the ‘fopen’ function which Akismet needs to work
Reference – http://akismet.com/faq/
-
Contact your blog host and request the ‘fopen’ function be configured. If you are not successful then this is what staff need when you contact them requesting help.
– your operating system
– your browser
– your browser version
– your FULL blog address (not the name, the real address that begins http:// )
– your FULL username
– your REAL email address that is registered here
– and a very good description of the exact problemPlease do not post personal information to the forum. Here’s the link to contact staff during working hours http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

One more question: How can I put new things to the side column? i.e. New block for links, etc… ?

The support forum for you to ask your blogging questions in is over here -> http://wordpress.org/support
