API Key for Map Directory
-
Hi, I am setting up a new look directory for a client, I want to test it on a demo site first, the client has a current site but I don’t think it has an API. Can I use my API Key for the demo and get them to buy their own one if they decide to use the new look software? If they dont, can I remove the API Key form that current site and use on my own site?

Hi there,
On what site are you working, and what API key are you speaking of?
If you’re referring to the Mapbox authentication token described in https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/map-block/#mapbox-access-token, that’s between you, your client, and Mapbox.
Or if you’re speaking of a Google Maps API key for using the Contact Info widget described in https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/contact-info/#display-map, that’s likewise between you, your client, and Google.
We offer you an option to embed maps from those services on a site, but the API key/authentication token requirement is a requirement of those services, and it would depend on their terms whether or not you’re allowed to use your key on a site you don’t own. So please refer to the specific service’s own documentation and terms in that regard.
