API Key problem

  I have a WordPress.org software blog hosted at http://blog.4bg.net. I have also registered with WordPress.com and got the API key needed for some plugins to work.
  I’m using WordPress 2.7 version. Now I have installed Akismet 2.2.3 and WordPress.com Stats Plugin 1.3.6. The API key I have worked fine with Akismet, but when I tried to activate WordPress.com Stats it said:

  Error from last API Key attempt:
  parse error. not well formed

  After I hardcoded the same API into the PHP code it says:

  Error from last API Key attempt:
  parse error. not well formed

  The WordPress.com Stats Plugin is not working because it needs to be linked to a WordPress.com account.
  An API Key is present in the source code but it did not work.

  I’m sure I did everything by the book (instructions) but it still doesn’t work. Please, give me some tips on how to deal with it.

  With API key problems, contact staff here directly as the volunteers here in the forums don’t have any experience with it. http://support.wordpress.COM/contact/
