API key What do I do with it?

  I went to get my API key, I signed up, it was e-mailed to me, but now what? Is it supposed to be listed in my profile? If so, how do I do that? I checked support and it says it should be listed, but doesn’t say what to do if it isn’t. I’m so confused.

  If you are referring to the wordpress.COM free hosted blog linked to your username then you can relax. If you are not referring to a wordpress.ORG install on paid hosting then there is nothing for you to worry about. The API keys are used to activate certain plugins on self-hosted WordPress.ORG sites, including Akismet and WordPress.com Stats. We don’t need to activate those on wordpress.COM free hosted blogs as they are already installed and active on all blogs here. API Keys are explained here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

  Can you use the same api key on Akismet and WordPress.com stats plugins on my self hosted blogs? i.e is it the same api key for both these plugins, and can the same key be used on any number of self hosted blogs that have theses plugins installed?
