API not showing
-
I need to activate the Akismet anit-spam plugin. I activated it and now it is asking for the API key to work. I went where instructed to users> profile where it says it should appear and it is not on that page at all. Where else can I find this info, and why would it not be showing up where it is supposed to?

Users -> Your profle. And it should be at the top of the screen above the colourscheme selector?

Just to check, you are looking for your API key here on wordpress.com and not your self hosted blog? http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/19/api-key/

hi vivian. i havent connected to wordpress.com with this site (as i have several sites) how will it know which site to give the API for?
-
vivian, i see what you mean now. how do i register at wordpress.com and not create a new blog? i dont see that option.
-
You will have the option to register a blog or just an account during the signup process from https://wordpress.com/signup
Check the option, which reads, “Just a username, please.”
…although, you currently have a WordPress.com account. Log into https://wordpress.com and go to Users -> Your Profile to obtain your API Key.
