API use on an external site
-
I was wondering if it were possible to use the API key that i recieved from my wordpress account with a Blog on another site. ie. http://www.”personalwebsite”.com Or can I link the http://www.”mysite”.wordpress.com to my personalsite?
-
If your personnel website is using WP.org software and have installed the Akismet plugin you can use the API key to activate the plugin.

I’m having problems with this exact thing.
I just signed up for a wordpress.com account and got an API key. I go to my own (previously configured) site and enter the new API key in the Akismet plugin configuration. It tells me that this API key is not correct. I double-checked it, and it’s the same one I was given.
What’s going on?

Oh. Looks like this thread has some more info on it. Might be an issue regarding our hosts’ firewalls blocking connections to Akismet.com.
On a different note, I wish there was a search function for these forums.

From the Start a new thread bit:
Before posting a new topic, be sure to search to see if one has been started already.
About a half an inch above the start a new thread box. :)
I suggested it to be made more visable via a feedback but I guess not….

Ahh. I see.
Yes, I’d have to agree that it should be a little more prominent. Typically when I look for a search function, I look for a text form with a ‘search’ button. I wouldn’t look in the section prominently labeled “Add New Topic.”
Thanks for the pointer.

Actually it should be on the forum’s home page. Not on a subforum down towards the bottom. Let’s be perfectly honest. :)
Granted, though. It’s not their forum software/ plug in. It’s someone elses.
