APOSTROPHE2 IMAGES
-
Here’s how the theme lays out images: https://wordpress.com/theme/apostrophe-2/
It looks like posts automatically move up so the most recent are at the top. But that means an image I create for what looks like a 1.9:1 rectangular and, which is what the images are really, will always need to convert to a square, which means I am really wasting the space in the rectangle and limiting what I can create.
My question is: Can the shape of the image boxes be changed, and is it the center of the rectangle the program crops to?
Thank you.

If you don’t like the square grid in Apostrophe 2, you might want to look at a theme that uses a Masonry grid instead. Masonry grids keep the image’s original aspect ratio intact. Two free examples are AltoFocus or Rebalance. Perhaps one of those would work better for you:

You can scan all grid themes here:

Can the shape of the image boxes be changed
No.
is it the center of the rectangle the program crops to?
Yes, vertical and horizontal centre.

Thank you. I just – as in 3 min ago – upgraded to a paid account. I think there’s more free stuff in case you have more suggestions. Handling simple email intimidates me, I liked this because it’s so basic. But I’ll check out the Masonry thing because I love the idea of posting what I create and having people see that.
Anyway – thanks again.
