App not connecting to my page — Jetpack issue?

    I downloaded the WordPress app for Android. However, I always get failures when I try to do just about anything. The only thing that works is visiting my page. I can’t retrieve pages, upload media… nothing.

    I am also having issues getting Jetpack to work. I go to ‘Connect to WordPress.com.’ It says ‘completing connection’ and displays the correct page. I select ‘Return to your site’ and ‘Start with Free’ (I’m just starting out and trying to keep costs low until I get established). And then I go back to my page, where it displays a button saying, ‘Connect Jetpack.’

    What’s going on here? Is the app connectivity an issue with my page, or is it an issue with my lack of Jetpack?
