App reader problem – my post (and others I follow) not appearing

    Was there an ‘outage’ or something about 12 hours ago? My blog post from around 1:30 am HKT (or 1:30 pm EST) is not appearing in the WordPress app reader (appears in the web version, but not in the app). I follow my own blog to be aware of when problems like this happen. I noticed that other posts from bloggers I follow also did not appear during that several-hour period, but I am getting new ones now. Please advise how you can ensure my post (and future posts) are added to the reader. This is very important to me, as otherwise WordPress followers will never see my post. Thanks..

    Hi,

    There was not an outage from what I’m aware. In the case of your last post, I am seeing it in the Reader for followers that specifically follow your blog ( http://en.wordpress.com/read/blog/id/54811014 ).

    The latest post, though, would not appear in the Reader under the various topics because it has over 15 tags and categories combined. In an effort to prevent “overtagging”, the topic sections of the Reader does not display posts with over 15 categories/tags.

    Hi – despite the tags (I just updated, thank you), like I said, the issue is with the Reader ONLY on the WordPress app (NOT the regular website reader, which displayed everything just fine).

    I did a post-by-post check between my app Reader and the web Reader, and there were about 20 posts that did not show up in the app (not just mine, obviously). These included the following posts, among many others (seemingly over about a 6 hour period of time).

    Please advise! It still does not show up. Can my latest post be ‘republished’ somehow? Or is it now just lost in the app version of the Reader?

    Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood you to mean that on the web, the posts displayed, as in when visiting your site, but not when using the reader webapp, as opposed to the mobile app.

    Which version of the app and what operating system are you using?

    Hi – I am on iOS 7, and the iPhone app version is 3.8.1, so I believe both are the most current versions.

    Thanks for the report. I’ve passed it onto the mobile developers. My understanding is that the issue isn’t an outage, but an issue more related to older posts not loading while the previously read items remained in the cache.

    In other words, others were still able to access your post via their mobile apps, but scrolling back in time may have be acting unexpectedly.
