Appeal to Waive Off Late Fees For Renewing Domain

    Hi,

My domain has expired on June 19, 2013 and I did not received notification for this. WordPress wants to charge me $80 late fees and I don’t think I should pay this as I have not received any notifications.

I would like to renew the domain, wayemgmt.com, without paying the late fees. Please help.

The blog I need help with is wayemgmt.com.

  • Your expired domain has gone into the redemption period and incurred a late-renewal fee to renew. I understand your frustration and have been in your shoes myself. But there is nothing we can do about the late fee. It is imposed on us by our registrar (and is standard practice for every registrar that I am familiar with). You can find more info on domain expiration here:

    Domain Expiration

We strongly encourage users to set up auto renewal to avoid this sort of issue. But even if auto-renewal is not an option, we send multiple emails alerting users of domain expiration and put alert notices on the blog dashboard when users log in.

If the domain is important to you, I highly suggest paying the late fee and renewing as soon as possible. You can choose to wait out the expiration process and let the domain be released to the public marketplace again. But there is also the very real possibility that domain squatters or someone who simply wants the name will grab it before you do.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any questions.

    Hi,

I am trying to renew my domain through WordPress but I am told “Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work.”

May I know how can I set the nameservers in WordPress?

My domain registration has expired and I cannot see the “Renew” button in My Upgrades.

  • I can help you with that.

Once a domain has been in the redemption period for a certain amount of time, we have to set up the payment manually.

I’m sending an email to the address connected to this account with instructions on how to proceed. If you can no longer receive email at this address, please update the address on your account so I can send you a private email and let me know that you’ve done so, so that I can resend the message. Thanks!

    Hi,

I haven’t received your email. Did you send the email to [email removed]? That is the email address linked to my account. Thanks.

  • That actually isn’t the registration email listed on your account.

There are actually two places where you can set an email address in WordPress.com. One for comment notifications and the like and the other is your “official” registration email where all email from WordPress.com comes from (upgrade expiration, password resets, etc).

    Change Your Email Address

It’s easy to change one of them and then forget to change the other when updating email. Could you check to make sure that both of yours are the email you listed in your previous message (which I have removed from view)?

I didn’t receive any email from WordPress in my inbox at (email visible only to moderators and staff) as well.

  • Let me know if it shows up. If not, we can either move this conversation to the “private” help forum or you can try switching your registration email to the gmail one. Sometimes I am suspicious of Live/hotmail’s spam filters…

Hi, I have paid for domain redemption and registration. However, it still shows that my wayemgmt.com domain has expired on June 19, 2013.

  • Payment received and recovery process started. I will contact you ASAP as soon as I hear back on the results. It should take less than 24 hours. But can sometimes take as long as 72.

  • Success!

http://wayemgmt.com/ is operational again and you are back in business.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
