  I am trying to ad advertisements in my sidebar, but I cannot find a place to incorporate the widget. Help, please!

  Howdy lharig!
  Your using the Twenty Seventeen theme , it has a couple of Footer widgets and a Blog Sidebar Widget, to be able to configure the widgets use this guide Widgets ,
  to be able to use your advertisement you can use the Text Widget guidelines.

  You can not just put advertising TS on a WordPress.com website. Please read https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/#advertising

  @lharig: If its from an advertisement network, it might not appear in the text widget, but if its a affiliate link, you can take advantage of it,
  also if you post the Code here, and let us know which type of advertisement it is, the staff can help you ahead as well, if it can be incorporated in the text widget.
