appearance and widgets
-
i am using the manifest theme. i would like to know if it is possible to have the archive and category widgets on the side of the page, rather than the bottom.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please read the theme description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/manifest/ and note the theme is not designed to have a sidebar.
Widgets
Even though Manifest doesn’t display widgets by default, it has support for two widget areas in the footer. To activate those, you just need to drag your widgets there. If you want one then you will need to purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade and do the required CSS editing.

If you do purchase the upgrade then see here > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/adding-sidebar-to-manifest-theme?replies=6#post-1104202

You’re welcome.
If you don’t mind me saying so the advent of and phenomenal growth of tablet and mobile users means that responsive width themes are very good choices to make. Responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
