Appearance change

    Hello, I am trying to update the appearance of my website, but last time I tried to change the appearance my original website did not stay in its original form. It showed what I was doing before I completed the upgrades. So I am wondering if you could tell me how to either keep my original website running while I make changes or create a ‘website maintenance’ page so that you cannot see the work I am doing on the website until I have completed it? Thank you.
