Appearance -> Widgets is missing

  I have a free pricing plan and a free WordPress subdomain, is missing the widgets tab the expected behaviour?

  WP.com: Yes
  Jetpack: No
  Correct account: Yes

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  From what I see, you’re using the Appleton theme, which does not support the Widgets anymore.
  You can use the Site Editor instead, which will allow you to split your content into two columns using, for example, the Columns block:
