Hi there. Looking at the theme’s demo site (https://spundemo.wordpress.com/) it appears that’s how the theme is written. I don’t think you’ll be able to change it, but it might be possible using CSS, for which you’ll need the Custom Design upgrade.
You can post your question in the CSS customisation forum for info on whether it’s possible and what code will be needed to make this change: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform
See here for more info on the custom design upgrade:

thank you!
i don’t think i’ll be able to change it…
(and right now i do not want to upgrade…)any other idea?

The only way to have them appear if your theme doesn’t show them is to pick another theme that does. I don’t know the themes well enough to make any suggestions, though.

Just to clarify, those categories are still assigned to your posts, they’ll still be searchable in Reader and if you place a category page or widget on your blog it will still work. They just aren’t displayed on the posts. This is purely a cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect how the categories actually work.

thanks for the idea, but i will stay with spun: its great what i can create there (even if some things are not like i want ..;-)

you are very right about the “cosmetic issue”, it is also about aesthetic and correctness. anyway, thanks again, happy blogging too!
