"Appearnace" and "Users" not listed on dashboard
-
I cannot find “Appearance” or “Users” in the left-hand column on my dashboard. “Invite” is listed under “Profile.”
Why would these not be showing up?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Are you the Administrator of the blog? These are the roles official users of blogs can have and what they can do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ See also > http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
If yourare an Admin then please go to the top right hand corner of your blog and click “screen options”. Then select all the modules in it and see if that clears up your issue.
-
Yes. I am the Administrator. I tried checking all of the modules listed in “screen options,” but “Appearances” and “Users” still do not show up on the left-side menu.
They did show up when I first began working on designing the blog..

Hello again timethief,
The same thing is happening to me and I am the administrator of my account. Every item in screen options is clicked. Appearance and users have disappeared from my dashboard and tools is acting funny too. I’ve tried in IE8, IE9, and Firefox and still nothing. -

I think both of you need to go to Staff for help. Here’s the link > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -
If you are still there – my question is this: we are a partnership on a newly created wordpress website. Our designer gave us one username and password to work on the site. I have spent a good deal of time trying to figure out how to add my partners on as users for the site, so they can also work on this growing website. But the only help I get is for adding blog users….. I’m used to working with Dreamweaver, so have never done this open source design before. How do I add new users to the website design portion? Thank you

For the issue with appearances and users not showing up, the first thing to try is to log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. Most times that will fix dashboard related issues.
-
Thanks. I’ve logged out and cleared the browser cache and cookies, restarted the browser and signed in and I still have the same problem–“Appearances” and “Users” are not listed in my dashboard menu.
FWIW, I also don’t seem to be able to “approve” a comment either, which makes me think it’s something about my role permissions; but I am the administrator.
-
Go to users > users in your dashboard (the list of users) and make sure it says that you are set as an administrator.
Also have you tried a different browser?
-
Can’t do that: there is no “users” item showing up in my dashboard list; that’s the problem.
Yes. I tried Explorer and Firefox -
Which version so IE and Firefox did you try please?
If you don’t know you can find out here > http://www.whatsmybrowser.com/ -
Well, this seems suspicious: When I put the URL into the Internet Explorer address window, this is what I get:
“You are using a browser I can’t identify.
It’s USER_AGENT string is:Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0)”
And when I put it in my firefox address bar, I get this:
“You are using a browser I can’t identify.
It’s USER_AGENT string is:Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1″

Duh Oh! on the user suggestion.
You have a bizarre problem and I’ve run out of suggestions I’m afraid other than contacting staff to see if they have any suggestions.

Thank you both for your time on this. I have contacted Staff Support and am awaiting a response.

Hello,
I am experiencing the same issue and have contacted support. I tried using IE 9.0 in compatibility mode and not in compatibility mode, Firefox 4.0.1, and the latest version of Chrome and it happened in all browsers. -
@signmeupblog
Thanks for letting us know you have filed a support ticket and for stating the browser version you have tried. The latest version of Chrome is 13 and it’s not stable. It’s still in development. The latest stable version is Chrome 11.
