appearnce customize option not working

  customize theme appearance not working
  When i go to customize the theme it does not bring anything up in live preview. I need to change to a static page as rite now when you go to the first page of my site it shows an oops! that page cannot be found.

  anyone else dealing with this currently?

  It says that because you deleted the placeholder post.
  To make a static front page:
  dashboard—>settings—>reading—>Front page displays—>select static front page
