Apply for WordAds: wrong site's ownership
-
Hi, I was trying to submit the evaluation of the site overthedoors.it for WordAds, i’m the owner. I successfully installed the plugin Ad Control, but in the page ‘Apply for WordAds’, the site is considered not applicable because I’m not considered the owner of OverTheDoors.it.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance for your kind attention.

Hi there,
Had you already connected Jetpack to your account when you tried to apply for WordAds? Also make sure you have the stats module in Jetpack activated, and please visit the application page again. Let me know if you’re still unable to apply.
-
Hi,
yes my jetpack statistics is still working from many months.
I can send you the screenshoots of the pages (Ad Control, Jetpack…) if necessary.
I confirm that i’m unable to apply.
Thank you,
marcello. -
It appears that when you first connected your site via Jetpack you used a different WordPress.com account to do so, and our system still sees that account as the site owner. This is unfortunately part of how Jetpack works – the first account that connects a site with Jetpack is set as the owner, and that doesn’t change if you later connect the site using a different account.
I’ll follow up on Monday with someone on our Jetpack team if it’s possible to change the owner of the site, but otherwise you can also try to add your old username as an admin on the site and visiting the WordAds application page while logged in as that username.

Thank you kokkieh.
I created the new account (marcellovaleri) because of the same problem: Overthedoors.it was considered between Ineligible blogs because “Not the owner”.
To try to bypass the problem I create the new account.
Now I reconnected JetPack with the old username (overthedoors) but there is no change in the ownership of overthedoors.it, I’m considered “Not the owner”. -
overthedoors is not the username that first connected that site with Jetpack either. If you’ve had another username on WordPress.com, please try that, otherwise I’ll ask someone who works with Jetpack tomorrow if it’s possible to change the owner of a Jetpack site in our system.

overthedoorsdotit! Is It!
Excuse me kokkieh, I created that username so long ago for akismet that I no longer use, and I had no idea that the property had been associated with that user. Now I know it well!
I connected that user and I correctly applied the site for WordAds.
Thank you very much for your time and for your invaluable help.

You’re very welcome, Marcello.
Are you okay using that username to keep managing the site? Or must I still find out from the Jetpack team if it’s possible to change the site owner? That will mean you’d need to reapply for WordAds after we make any changes.
-
No, no, I can manage the site with this user (at least until I forgot it again!).
Thanks,
