Hey Lydia!
Third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.
Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.
I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Sometimes, even without the installation of a plugin, we can help you gain the function you’d like here at WordPress.com. If you let me know your goals, perhaps I can help further. I was thinking, with your needs, you might be able to use an embedded Google calendar. To see if that will suit your specifications;
Please let me know if I might help further! Cheers.

Hi and many thanks for your quick reply and the assistance offered.
I understand the differences between WordPress.com and org… I checked out on the link of the page I sent to you and it says the plugin i am enquiring for is compatible with WordPress.com? can you please have a look to it? perhaps did not understand it correctly.
With regards to Google Calendar, thanks for your suggestion but I think i won’t work, as I need an online bookings/appointment plugin with the option to pay via Pay Pal and Visa… do you think I can get all of these from Google Calendar? Same functionality as the plugin I am enquiring of.
If not, can you suggest any other plug-ins apart from Eventbrite (is for events no for appointments)
Looking forward to your reply
many thanks

I have also tried to add this widget code to my blog, but with no success:
<script src=”https://widget.wahanda.com/common/venue-menu/javascript/widget-button.js”></script><script>
(function() {
var link = document.createElement(“link”);
link.type = “text/css”;
link.href = “https://widget.wahanda.com/common/venue-menu/css/widget-button.css”;
link.rel = “stylesheet”;
link.media = “screen”;
document.getElementsByTagName(“head”)[0].appendChild(link);
}());
</script>Can you please bring any light into what my options of having a calendar for online bookings and payments on my site are?
thanks

onclick=’wahanda.openOnlineBookingWidget(“https://widget.wahanda.com/place/287738/menu/”); return false;’ target=”_blank”>

Hey there Lydia!
To begin, the widget code you pasted in your last note cannot be added to WordPress.com sites. Third party code for widgets is treated in the same manner as third party plugins. They aren’t allowed. That leads me to another issue you raised…
I checked out on the link of the page I sent to you and it says the plugin i am enquiring for is compatible with WordPress.com? can you please have a look to it? perhaps did not understand it correctly.
Plugins can only be added on self-hosted WordPress.org sites, not on WordPress.com sites. It gets confusing since plugin vendors will say that their products are WordPress-compatible. However, they are referring to WordPress.org sites only.
Can you please bring any light into what my options of having a calendar for online bookings and payments on my site are?
You might try one of our themes that has a built-in reservation system. You’ll have to look at the layouts and widget capabilities to see if they’re adaptable for your needs:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/stay/
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/confit/
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/bon-vivant/If these don’t suit you, you really may find that starting a self-hosted site will be your best bet. This way, you’ll be able to add appointment plugins and shopping carts.
If you are ok using PayPal buttons for your site, that’s doable. Here are the instructions:

Let me know how I can help further. Thanks!
