Appropriate Ads?

  I found this site: http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com

  that has WordPress listed at the bottom of it, and I am wondering if the ads on this site are acceptable with WordPress?

  That’s a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, not a WordPress.com blog.

  As such, they’re welcome to run whatever ads they want to.

  So if the url has a www in it, it is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog?

  No, that has nothing to do with it.

  WordPress.com is a blogging service, and WordPress.org is a blogging software package that you can use with a hosting provider.

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

  Okay, but is there a way to tell if a site is a .org or a .com as I stumble upon sites out there in the webosphere?

  For the most part, a WordPress.com blog is going to say “Blog at WordPress.com” in the footer, because it’s pretty much a terms of service violation to remove it.

  Also, if you’re logged into WordPress.com, that gray admin bar will show on the top of any WordPress.com blog.
