Approved comments not being displayed

    I am using the pool theme in wordpress, one of my readers is an approved commenter, but for some reason, their comments will not appear in my blog, the problem seems to be in their blog name. The blog name is not in the moderation list, i tried removing everything from the moderation list, but it did not make any difference, the comment always ends up in the Akismet Spam bin. If they put their blog name in, it won’t work, if they leave the blog name blank it’s fine.
    I have ticked “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” & “Comment author must have a previously approved comment”. I have set the number of links to 3, that will trigger the comment for moderation, so it should not be stopping them.
    Has anyone else had this problem, please help!!

    It’s strange about the blogname, but it sounds like a problem with Akismet we keep hearing about. On some blogs it marks approved comment authors as spam even though it shouldn’t; it needs to learn the behaviour first that they’re not spammers, and you can only do that by continuing to approve them after the comments are marked. *Eventually* it’s supposed to learn and will stop marking them as spam.

    I’m guessing that the comment author must not have a fixed IP address; a couple of comments with the blogname might have been previously marked as spam on another blog, and so Akismet continues to recognise it as spam in its database; but when the blogname is removed and the IP changes, it goes through fine… still seems strange, though. If it keeps happening, there’s probably an issue with your blog that staff will need to look at.

    Thanks cjwriter, his IP stays the same but his blog is recent, i’ll persist with it and contact support if is persists.

    I approved a comment yesterday and it appeared on my blog, but now it does not appear even though it is still approved. What gives?
