Approved users who have accepted an invite to a private blog are still not ….

Dear Support,
I recently set up a private blog at http://thewilsonstory.wordpress.com and Approved users who have Accepted an invite tothis private blog are still not showing up users. I had a similar experience when setting up a test user account and had to try several times for it to work in various browsers, to get the test account to be able to post, even though the test user was invited as an Author. One of the other users invited as an Author, seems to have gotten through the registration process and has been approved by Admin and logged in and Liked two of the posts, yet this person does not show up in a list of users at http://thewilsonstory.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php
I have read other support questions and answers that seem similar to this, but the issue still remains. Can anyone please, please help?

Hi druesome, thanks for touching base. One for example is the user marjim2014 who was invited as an Author and has managed to login and like a post or two, but this user does not show up in the all users section in the dashboard. There seems to be a glitch in the “Invite users to a private blog” process that causes such problems. At least when one is inviting a someone who is not already a WordPress member, and this person registers with a WordPress username only. I have encountered this with a test user scenario and it is happening to others, so it may need a look at. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for clearing that up! What happened is initially you invited marjim2014 as a viewer of your private blog. You can see him listed under “Users allowed to access site” here:

What you might want to do is remove him as a viewer and invite him back as an author through this page:
https://thewilsonstory.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=wpcom-invite-users

Thanks, not sure if this is the case as I have tried with test user accounts and I had a similar experience. I note that other people have similar issues with private blogs in other support cases. I think I will just have to work around this issue and not use the invite mechanism as it is not reliable. I will just get people to register a WordPress username account, or a blog with WP and then direct them to the blog and tell them to hit the Request access link there. Thanks for your assistance in any case.
