App's Stats Fail to Show, "Data not loaded"

    Hello,

I searched for this topic but the threads I found are closed without workable solutions, unfortunately.

I’ve been able to see my blog stats in the mobile app (own website) for years. They stopped showing recently. Instead, a message says “Data not loaded” and a Retry button which doesn’t help.

I see the stats online without problems, it’s just the app. The app is connected to the website as it shows all posts and Activity Log.

Interestingly, it started about a month ago on my old phone, Samsung Note 8. I’ve just bought a new phone, Pixel 7 Pro (Android 13), installed the latest WordPress app, but facing the same problem.

My usual suspect in such cases is an ad blocker Adguard. I made sure to disable it for testing. Also cleared the app cache.

Hope to get help. Thank you!

    Hi there:

Can you confirm that you’re checking stats for zorzstudios.wordpress.com or if the problem is with a different site? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    Thanks!

Thank you for looking into this. No, sorry, that URL was automatically added.

    My actual site is zorzstudios.com.

The mobile app can display the comments, media, and posts. I’ve just added a test post in the app, saving it as a draft. It appeared online in my admin dashboard. So in a way, the app works, but not the stats.

  • Hello there,

Ok, in the app, what are you seeing when visiting stats for: zorzstudios.com ?

If you’re able to provide a screenshot – that would be most beneficial. This can be shared via a link via https://snipboard.io/

Thanks! Can you also confirm if you’re using the WordPress app or the Jetpack app?

Since your site uses Jetpack, I would try the Jetpack app and see if the stats show there. If not, we’ll keep troubleshooting!

I didn’t know Jetpack app exists… Installed it, a seemingly identical interface and functionality (at least at the brief look). Same situation with the stats—same-looking screen except that the Retry button is green instead of blue.

  • Hello there,

Ok thank you for that additional information.

Are you able to close and then re-open the app, and if you’re seeing Retry – can you tell me what you see after hitting Retry please.

    Many thanks in advance!

Yes, it was never a problem to back out of the app (Android back button) and then relaunch it. I also tried force-stopping it and clearing the cache.

When I hit the Retry button, a can briefly see a screen that lists blank Post and Pages, Referrers, Clicks, Authors. It just flashes for a split second and then disappears, going back to the Retry button screen.

  • Hi there,

Out of curiosity, did you make any changes to your Jetpack connection recently, such as migrate to a new sever, a change to your site URL, DNS change or similar?

On our end I can see that Jetpack was disconnected for some time and then reconnected, but because we don’t specialize in Jetpack support it’s not clear to me what that activity is related to. However, it can be the case that your Jetpack connection will get a bit mixed up in that process, and that can affect cloud-connected services like stats.

With this in mind, please contact Jetpack support to have them check your connection to make sure there are no issues there. They can also help with the stats issue on their end, and it’s likely that fixing the connection may automatically fix the stats issue.

You can reach Jetpack support here:

    Thanks!

Thanks so much for looking into this! Sounds right, I did transferred my website from a standard host to VPS, coupled with a change in DNS provider.

I will take it to the Jetpack support, then. Thanks again!
