Arbutus Theme: Moving excerpt above featured image

    Hello,

    Is it possible to move the excerpt above the featured image in Arbutus? Ideally the post “preview” would look like so:

    TITLE
    Excerpt (Date)
    Featured Image

    Any help with this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

    I see the site is on the Pro plan, so you’re able to reach out for real time assistance here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact/

    This order can be changed via Appearance > Site Editor.

    Once list view is opened, it’s possible to drag and drop the elements into order. I’ve created this screenshot to show you.

    This was tremendously helpful! Thank you so much! Now if I could just make the heading, date, and photo closer together. The margins seems awfully large. I set all of the margins and padding to 0 but haven’t been able to get them any closer together.

    Hi @gonebirdinbirdblog, oddly the April 25 date there looks like a paragraph. Would you be willing to add another post with a custom excerpt, just so we can compare the two?

    It’s minor, but I just want to move the excerpt (date) directly above the photo if possible.

    Line height, madding, and margin of the excerpt are all set to 0. Padding and margin of the photo is set to 0.

    Got it, so you are setting the date in the excerpt. The excerpt is always going to have a paragraph. And at this point, paragraphs will pretty consistently get a margin. Otherwise your paragraphs would all run together, you know?

    If you’re always going to use dates as the excerpts, though, rather than paragraphs, would you consider showing the post date instead, and then back-dating your posts so they have the right date on them? You’d have a little more control over that.

    If you’re willing to tinker with CSS, you could potentially target the paragraph within the excerpt and shrink its margins that way. I’d kinda advise against it though, in case of unforeseen consequences elsewhere.
