Archive drop-down menu

  Is there a way to turn my archives list into a drop-down menu? I tried using the new archive shortcode as a widget, but it looked just like the old archives (a long list of links crowding my sidebar).

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You have to use the correct option code with the shortcode.

  [archives format=option]

  Do note that the width of the pulldown will be set by your longest post title and that may mean that the pulldown is far wider than your sidebar.

  No, I just want a drop-down menu by month, not post names.

  How would the shortcode for that look like?

  You can’t do a shortcode that will organize and show post titles under month headings in a pulldown. What will show in the pulldown is:

  August 2009
  July 2009
  June 2009
  May 2009

  And they will have to select a month which will then take them to another page with the posts listed on them just like the archives widget does except in a pulldown.
