Archives, categories and such, msut I have them?

  So, I have tried like a dozen differnet templates, and all of them have the categories section and the archives section and sometimes more and I cannot take them off. In the widget section it says there are no widgets.

  Is there no way to take them off?

  I thought that if they said widget that menat I could remove the widgets.

  When you first start out with a blog, and you set a theme, it will show a default sample set so that you can see what it will look like. Once you add a widget to the sidebar under appearances > widgets, the other will disappear. Add say the pages widget to the sidebar and click “save changes” and the others will disappear. If you don’t want anything in the sidebar, put a text widget into the sidebar with nothing in it.
