archives help
-
Hello – I have searched forums and FAQ but cannot find my answer so hope y’all can help. It’s probably an easy one but I’m new….
How do I move posts from the front page to archives? I only post once a week and don’t want the old stuff to still be there. I’ve tried checking the archive box, that didn’t work for me.
If I change the number of posts to a page to one or 2, it screws up my other pages I think where I need more posts showing. My blog is lindastamps.wordpress.com and I have Digg3
thank you!

You should only have ONE page where your posts turn up, the blog page. All other pages on your site are by definition static pages. Where else are you seeing them? Can you give us examples, with direct links (starting with http)?

The blog page will show posts chronologically from your first to your last, however you can set it to display the number of posts you wish under options > reading. Older posts will be pushed onto additional pages as you create new posts. If you use the archive widget, people can click on a month/year to get to older posts within that particular month and year. There is no way to automatically move older posts off of the blog pages. I know that the Mistylook theme has an archive page that will list posts by month/year and also I believe by category, but they are still in the main blog page structure.

I am still having no luck with posts moving to archives. I have it set to just one post in the settings. I’ve checked the archive box for each post. What is showing is every post for the last week – it just keeps scrolling on and on, telling them click on the next page.
Any advice?
