Archives – Is it possible to have it archive by a photo?

I would like to have my archive automatically show a photo from each entry. I had this at Tumblr and I’ve manually created one on my site for June but it is time-consuming. Is there a way to have this done automatically?

In the majority of themes, posts on category or other archive pages show up just as they do on the main posts page. But in some themes only the beginnings of posts are shown, and in a few themes you only get titles or thumbnails. See > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/full-posts-in-archive-pages/

When I used the Chateau theme on my blog I chose the “concise” Archives format. I also close to insert “the more tag” into my posts. The “concise” format displays only the title and the first 20 words from each post so that your readers may view your posts at a glance.”
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chateau/Well I choose “concise” and I then in each posts I copied the code from the HTML for the thumbnail image and the text teaser of the length that I wanted into the excerpt box below the editor box. In other words, I overrode the excerpt that’s coded into the theme by using the excerpt box. . It was easy to do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/
